Financial sanctions are a type of sanctions, which include an asset freeze and the prohibition from making funds and economic resources available directly or indirectly to the designated individual or entity. In the sanctions tracker, financial sanctions refer to the individual/entities included in the consolidated list of persons, groups and entities subject to ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ financial sanctions, managed and updated by the Commission, reflecting the officially adopted texts published in the Official Journal.
Travel bans are a type of sanctions, which restrict the admission within the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ of designated individuals. In the sanctions tracker, travel bans refer to the individual/entities included in the consolidated list of persons subject, under ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ sanctions, to travel restrictions, managed and updated by the Commission, reflecting the officially adopted texts published in the Official Journal.
A designation refers in the sanctions tracker to either an individual or an entity subject to financial sanctions or a travel ban.
An individual in the sanctions tracker refers to a natural person subject, under ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ sanctions, to financial sanctions and/or a travel ban.
An entity in the sanctions tracker refers to a legal person, group or entity subject, under ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ sanctions, to financial sanctions.
A regime in the sanctions tracker refers to a specific sanctions regime in place in the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ. Some regimes are based on UN measures, which the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ transposes into ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ law (such as the sanctions regime against Iraq). The ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ may also reinforce the UN sanctions regimes by applying additional measures (as was the case with North Korea). The ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ may also impose fully autonomous sanctions regimes (such as those imposed for actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity of Ukraine). In addition, the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ has also adopted horizontal regimes targeting specific activities (such as terrorism). See the for the full list of regimes.
A nationality in the sanctions tracker refers to the citizenship of a natural person who, under ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ sanctions, is subject to financial sanctions and/or a travel ban. Note that this is the nationality as indicated in the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ sanctions regulations and the nationality is not available for all designated individuals.
A date of listing refers to the date on which an individual or entity was designated by the ÐÒÔËÂÖÅÌ.
